Farm Medicine Course
Medicine Training Refresher: Farmers and their staff will need to refresh their medicine training every five years to keep up with the latest practices in responsible medicine use. At least one person on the unit must have undergone training in the last five years – either a refresher course to follow a course taken previously, or a full course approved by Red Tractor if it’s the person’s first training in this area.
This Mastering Medicines workshop aims to increase trainees’ knowledge on the various classes of medicines and how to use them safely and effectively on farm.
The course also aims to increase trainees’ understanding of the legislative requirements for on farm medicine use.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the following classes of medicine, what they do and when to use them:
- Vaccines
- Antibiotics
- Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAID)
- Anthelmintics
- Understand how an active health plan ensures effective product use.
- Safe and effective administration of medicines.
- Comply with medicines legislation and farm assurance requirements.
