Calf Health Forum
October 17, 2018 @ 8:00 am - January 1, 2019 @ 8:00 am
After the success of our ‘Future Farmers Forum’ series of lectures, we are delighted to launch our Calf Health Forum. This short-course will comprise 5 lectures, one every fortnight, exclusively devoted to the management of the pre-weaned calf. Following these lectures, we are very excited to be able to offer a 1 on 1 farm visit. During the visit we will perform a structured assessment of the pre-weaning period and provide a written action plan going forward to help optimise your young calf performance.
The course dates are as follows:
17th October – Introduction, Calving and Colostrum
31st October – Scours
14th November – The Environment
28th November – Pneumonia
12th December – Nutrition
December to January – Individual farm visits
The days will run from 10.30am to 3pm (to avoid calf feeding times) with refreshments and a delicious buffet lunch.
Each day will be based at the Colliton Barton training centre and comprise teaching, practical elements and on-farm elements. All the finer details will be relayed to you closer to the time.
We have worked very hard to gain subsidy from various sources. This means we can offer the whole course, including the bespoke on-farm consultation for £200 plus VAT.
Our mission for this set of lectures is to push beyond the usual level of general advice and hopefully offer new information to enhance your calf rearing. You will be able to tell us in the end of course feedback form whether we managed it!
How to Enrol
If you should wish to attend, please contact the practice on 01823 662286 (Wellington), 01404 841011 (Colliton Barton), email@example.com, or in person and we will add you to the list. We will have to work to a first come first serve basis in the interest of fairness.
Looking forward to seeing you.
