Why Choose Mount Vets?
The Practice
Mount Vets Small Animal Hospital offers a comprehensive range of advisory health, medical and surgical care supported by 24-hour on-site nursing. We have been providing a professional and friendly veterinary service to Wellington and the surrounding area for over sixty years. As pet owners ourselves we know how much your pet’s well-being means to you and how important it is that you can be sure you are getting the veterinary service your pet deserves.
Hospital Status
To obtain the title “Veterinary Hospital”, a practice must meet demanding requirements laid down by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and pass regular, rigorous inspections to ensure the highest standards of staffing, facilities and patient care. We were very proud to become the first Veterinary Hospital in Somerset in April 1996.
Our Staff
One of the most important aspects of being a Veterinary Hospital is that we have trained nursing staff on the premises 24 hours a day, every day of the year. These members of the veterinary team provide dedicated, skilled, round-the-clock care for all in-patients. Your pet will be monitored throughout the night as necessary, enabling nursing treatment and diagnostic tests to be done immediately if required. On-call veterinary surgeons have access to full nursing support in emergency and out-of-hours cases and fully monitored anaesthesia can be performed quickly if required. The Mount Veterinary Hospital is recognized as a Training Practice (TP) for the training of veterinary nurses.
Our experienced small animal veterinary team all attend regular continuing professional development courses (CPD) to keep ourselves up to date with the latest advances in small animal veterinary care. Within the team we have furthered our individual skills in our chosen areas, but can also bring in specialists or refer your pet should that be necessary. We care for our clients’ pets ourselves out of hours and do not use any other organisations to do this. This means that should you need to use our out-of- hours service you will be seeing a dedicated small animal vet, probably one you will recognise and maybe even be your usual vet that you see during the day.
Our client care team consists of trained receptionists, administrative and accounts staff. They are on hand to help with any queries, give healthcare advice and ensure the smooth running of the appointments system.
