Eight full-time veterinary surgeons supported by a number of qualified veterinary nurses provide a very experienced pet care team. Our client care team consists of trained receptionists, office and accounts staff.

An appointment system is operated at the Hospital. Please telephone between 9.00am and 6.30pm for an appointment. To enable continuity of treatment, each veterinary surgeon has consulting periods spread throughout the week. If you would like to see a particular veterinary surgeon, please ask.

To obtain the title 'Veterinary Hospital', a practice must meet demanding requirements laid down by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and pass regular inspections to ensure the highest standards of staffing, facilities and patient care. We were very proud to become the first Veterinary Hospital in Somerset in April 1996.

On-site nurses provide nursing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a requirement of Hospital status and provides significant advantages for your pet's treatment and recovery:
- Veterinary surgeons have access to full nursing support in emergency and out of hours cases.
- Fully monitored anaesthesia can be performed quickly if required.
- Your pet will be monitored throughout the night as necessary, enabling nursing treatment and diagnostic tests to be done immediately if required.
- Warm, comfortable kennels with smoke detectors and on-site supervision maximize your pet's safety and security.

Regular nursing clinics give advice on all aspects of pet care such as weight control, worming, dental and flea treatment. Evening puppy parties are run at the practice to encourage your puppy to become a happy well-socialised pet.

All staff regularly attend training courses and we are also members of the following specialist groups that provide training and research information for their members: British Veterinary Association, British Small Animal Veterinary Association, British Cattle Veterinary Association and the British Equine Veterinary Association.
The Mount Veterinary Hospital is registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a Training Practice for veterinary nurses.

We accept payment by cash, cheque (with banker's card), Switch, Delta and most credit cards. All fees are due for payment at the time of consultation. Please discuss fees with the veterinary surgeon or receptionist if you are concerned. Whenever possible we will provide an estimate of the likely costs of treatment on request.

We recommend that you insure your pet for illness, injury and third party liability. Veterinary treatment is becoming increasingly sophisticated and the cost of providing the latest equipment and medicines is likely to continue to rise. Insurance provides peace of mind and ensures that your pet can receive the very best treatment should a complicated illness or accident occur.

We prefer to examine your pet at the hospital, where we have the facilities, equipment and trained nurses to enable us to give your pet the best treatment. The time necessary for house visits incurs additional expense, but if specifically requested , house visits will be made. Please phone before 9.30 am for a visit the same day.

Please telephone in advance to arrange repeat prescriptions. It is our policy to provide repeat prescriptions only if your pet is under our regular care. We carry out free check-ups to provide repeat prescriptions for flea control products.
